Sri Lanka will bat first in this Super Over, and we can see Kusal Perera padded up in the dugout. And it seems like Dasun Shanaka will walk to bat with him. The Indians have already taken the field again. Arshdeep Singh will bowl those crucial 6 balls for India. Here we go...
Still call it a dead rubber, aye? The Asia Cup has come alive right before the Finale. After 240 balls, we do not have a clear winner here. Sri Lanka bossed up almost 90 percent of the innings with the bat, but a few minor slip-ups on the way, nothing separates the teams. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST SUPER OVER OF ASIA CUP 2025! For the first time in this competition, the Indian bowling unit was put under pressure as they kept leaking runs in all phases. Hardik Pandya picked up the first wicket for India, but was off the field for the rest of the game due to a possible injury. Pathum Nissanka's maiden T20I century dented the Indian bowling unit badly and a decent hand from Kusal Perera also compounded their struggles. But it was that little patch in the middle overs when the Indian spinners bowled a few quiet overs, and also took a few important wickets as Sri Lanka slipped from 134/1 to 163/4. Pathum Nissanka, along with Dasun Shanaka kept the flame alive, but Arshdeep Singh delivered a fantastic penultimate over against two proper hitters, and with Nissanka getting out in the first delivery of the final over, Sri Lanka eventually could not cross the line despite flirting with a historic victory.
19.6WE ARE IN FOR A SUPER OVER! Harshit Rana bowls this on a hard length, on middle, Dasun Shanaka gets hurried but manages to force it down to long on, where Axar Patel charges onto the ball but fails to pick up cleanly. However, Shanaka is only worried about getting the second run, he puts in a dive at the other end. Patel recovers and throws it at the bowler's end, where Harshit Rana also does not grab it on the first attempt, but no harm done. SRI LANKA ALSO ENDS ON 202/5!
Nerves! SKY, Gill, and Rana are in a conference, and a lot of field changes are being made. Three fielders are now in the deep in the leg side. Are we going into the Super Over?
19.5FOUR! Streaky but Sri Lanka won't mind one bit! Pitched up and outside off, Dasun Shanaka throws his bat at it but gets an outside edge over short third man for a boundary. Still all three results are possible. Sri Lanka needs a four or a six to win, a double will force a Super Over, and anything less, India wins.
19.4Sloppy again! Fuller one and on middle, Dasun Shanaka stays deep inside his crease and lofts it away towards deep mid-wicket, where Shivam Dube misfields and allows the second run. 7 needed in 2 now!
19.3Change of pace from Rana, full and around off, Janith Liyanage goes through his slog way early and misses. The ball rolls towards the keeper, where Sanju Samson fumbles a bit, allowing a bye. 9 needed in 3 now
19.2In the air...SAFE! Hard length and around off, Janith Liyanage looks to pull but loses his bottom hand and gets a top edge. The ball flies towards the vacant mid off region. SKY from extra covers runs to his right, extending his right hand to catch, but fails to reach it. Two taken.
Janith Liyanage is in at 7. Sri Lanka need 12 off 5 balls now!
19.1OUT! TAKEN! STRAIGHT TO THE FIELDER! Pathum Nissanka is shell-shocked at the crease, and so is Sanath Jayasuriya in the Lankan hut. Harshit Rana sees the batter move across but attacks the stumps, fuller in length. Pathum Nissanka tries to whip it away, but unfortunately hits it straight at short fine, where Varun Chakaravarthy shows good reflexes to grab it above his head. An inch either side and it would have been a boundary. Nissanka departs after a magnificent 107 off 58, and to a big applause from the crowd. Sri Lanka still need 12 runs in 5 balls!
Harshit Rana, who has been completely off the rhythm this evening, will bowl the final over. He has gone for 44 runs off his 3 overs. Can he defend 11 runs for his side? This is going all down to the wire, folks!
18.6FOUR! A crucial boundary for Sri Lanka! Arshdeep Singh misses his yorker and bowls a full toss, on middle. Dasun Shanaka looks to loft it down the ground, but gets it from the bottom part of his bat. However, Rinku Singh is at mid on and the ball goes well over him. He chases after and puts in a dive, but fails to stop it from going to the fence.
18.6WIDE! Just loses his line and serves this a bit too outside off, Dasun Shanaka swings but misses. Called a wide.
18.5Excellent bowling! Arshdeep Singh does not quite get the yorker, but bowls a low full toss, outside off. Very hard to get those away, and Pathum Nissanka only manages to toe-end it towards extra covers for one.
18.4Gets the wide yorker right this time, outside off, Dasun Shanaka throws his bat and squeezes it out towards deep backward point for just a run. 18 needed in 8 now. Sri Lanka needs a boundary in the next two balls.
18.4WIDE! Tries the wide yorker, but just bowls it outside the guideline, Dasun Shanaka fails to reach for it. Wided.
18.3Well bowled! Arshdeep Singh bangs this into the pitch around middle and off, pace on, Dasun Shanaka moves across for the scoop but plays all over it.
18.2Full toss, outside off, Pathum Nissanka slaps it towards long off for a single. Singh gets away with it there.
18.1A slower yorker, on middle, Pathum Nissanka waits for it and clips it away towards deep square leg for a brace. 21 needed in 11 now!
Arshdeep Singh (3-0-35-1) to bowl the penultimate over, which means that Harshit Rana might bowl the final over. Sri Lanka need 23 off the last 12 balls remaining.
17.6Flatter, full and on off, Pathum Nissanka swipes it off the inner half of the bat through square leg for one more. 10 runs off that over. Axar Patel's figures read 3-0-32-0.
17.5Floated, full and outside off, Dasun Shanaka goes down but has to drag his sweeep and hits it towards deep mid-wicket for just on.
17.4Much better! Slows it up, shortish and around off, turns away, Dasun Shanaka backs away and throws his bat but misses.
Worrying signs for India as now Tilak Varma is seen hobbling off the field. He was seen stretching out his left hamstring. Hardik Pandya is still off the field.
17.3SIX! Dasun Shanaka joins the party now! Axar Patel bowls this quicker and shorter, on middle, Shanaka picks up the length early, moves back and smacks it flat towards the deep mid-wicket fence. Tilak Varma leaps up to grab it but it sails well over him for a six.
17.2Length, outside off. Smashed by Nissanka to the left of Suryakumar Yadav at cover. SKY tries to stop it but fumbles a bit and that allows them to cross over.
17.1Flatter, full and on middle, Dasun Shanaka swipes it to deep square leg for one.
Sri Lanka still need 33 runs off the last 3 overs. Axar Patel (2-0-22-0) is back on.
16.6SIX! BOOM! HUNDRED FOR NISSANKA! MAIDEN T20I HUNDRED FOR HIM! An innings from the top drawer, but he will want to finish the job for his country here. This is also the first century of this year's Asia Cup by any batter. Arshdeep Singh misses his mark and serves this full, on off, Pathum Nissanka gets underneath it and smokes it over the long off fence for a biggie. Nissanka raises his bat and helmet to take in all the applause, but now he will want to stay till the end to finish the job.
16.5Superb fielding! Low full toss, outside off, Dasun Shanaka smacks it wide of point, where Kuldeep Yadav dives to his left to make a fine stop. There is a bit of hesitation between the batters as Kuldeep gets up and throws it at the bowler's end. Arshdeep is standing in front of the stumps and fails to collect it cleanly. Shanaka makes his ground.
Dasun Shanaka is in at 6.
16.4OUT! TAKEN IN THE DEEP! Arshdeep Singh gets a wicket now, and India are right back in it. This is short of a length and around middle, again, no pace on the delivery. Kamindu Mendis looks to pull it away but has to generate his own pace, but ends up hitting it from the higher part of the bat. The ball goes miles in the air towards deep square leg, where Axar Patel settles under it and takes an excellent catch. Sri Lanka 163/4 now, needing 40 in 20!
16.3A low full toss, outside off, Pathum Nissanka reaches out and drills it towards extra covers and sets off for the single. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. 40 needed in 21 now!
16.2Back of a length and around off, Kamindu Mendis swats it towards long on for a single.
16.1A precious dot! Arshdeep Singh bangs this one into the pitch, outside off, takes pace off, Kamindu Mendis steps across and tries to ramp it away but misses.
Just 1 run separates both teams right now. After 16 overs, Sri Lanka are 161/3, and at the same stage, India were 162/4. Hardik Pandya still seems to be off the field for now. Here's Arshdeep Singh (2-0-26-0) back into the attack.
15.6Slows it up, full and outside off, Kamindu Mendis looks to sweep it but gets a toe-end as the ball just flies past Sanju Samson's outstretched left glove behind the stumps towards short third. They cross. Just 4 runs and a big wicket from the over. Superb stuff. Kuldeep Yadav finishes off his spell with figures of 4-0-31-1.
15.5Pushed through quicker, full and on middle, skids through, Kamindu Mendis gets stuck in his crease and tries to flick it away. Just manages to get an inside edge onto his pads, otherwise it was plumb.
15.4Short again and around off, Pathum Nissanka punches it through covers for another run.
15.4WIDE! Goes short and outside off, turns further away, Pathum Nissanka leaves it alone. Wided.
15.3Floated, full and on middle, Kamindu Mendis sweeps it to deep square leg for a single.
15.2A shout for LBW, but turned down! Flighted, full and on off, turns in as this is a googly, Kamindu Mendis looks to clip it away but gets a slight inside edge onto his pads.
Kamindu Mendis is in at number 5.
15.1OUT! TAKEN! A fantastic change from SKY, and Kuldeep Yadav strikes at a crucial time here. He tosses it up nicely, full and on off, Charith Asalanka backs away and goes down to slog it away. However, he has to reach out for it and this one also turns away to catch the top edge. The ball flies high in the air towards long on, where Shubman Gill comes forward a bit and pouches it safely. Asalanka never looked in control in his brief stint, and walks back for 5 off 9. Sri Lanka are 157/3, still needing 46 runs in 29 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav (3-0-27-0) is back into the attack for his final over. He replaces Axar Patel. A bit of a breather here for the two batters as they are getting hydrated. All set to continue. Sri Lanka need 46 from 30 balls.
14.6Length, outside off, lofted over mid off for a single. 10 off the over. 21 from the last couple of overs for Sri Lanka. Varun Chakaravarthy ends his spell with figures of 4-0-31-1.
14.5In the air... lands safe! Slowish delivery, full and outside off. Charith Asalanka backs away and drags it aerially over mid-wicket. The deep square leg fielder runs across to his right but he slips and the ball plugs in the outfield. They cross for a couple of runs.
14.4BEATEN! A stifled appeal for caught behind, but none of them look sure enough. Hence, SKY does not send it upstairs. This is the googly, flat and around off, on a fuller length. Charith Asalanka swings across the line and is beaten on the inside edge.
14.3Quicker ball, outside off, spinning away from off. Pathum Nissanka plays it late from the crease and glides it to the left of short third for a single.

14.1FOUR! Great start to the over! Serves a half-volley, outside off. Pathum Nissanka smashes it over extra cover and finds the fence. He moves into the 90s now and is taking the game away from the Indians! 150 IS UP FOR SRI LANKA!
13.6Outside off, on a length, turns away. Pathum Nissanka throws his bat at it and slaps it through extra cover. Arshdeep Singh runs to his left, and fumbles in the field and that allows the batters to cross each other thrice.
13.5FOUR! Picked up the gap to perfection! A welcome boundary for Sri Lanka! Short and on middle, drifting in. Pathum Nissanka picks the length early and pulls it aerially, between deep square leg and deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

The Sri Lankan skipper, Charith Asalanka is in at 4.
12.2OUT! STUMPED! OUTFOXED! Varun Chakaravarthy finally breaks the deadlock for India and the 127-run stand for the second wicket is broken. He dishes out a flighted googly, outside off on a length. Kusal Perera comes dancing down the track and tries to work across, but the ball spins away from him and Sanju Samson does the rest with the southpaw out by a fair margin. Kusal Perera departs for an explosive 58 off just 32 and Sri Lanka are 134/2, needing another 69 runs off 46 balls.
12.1Flat and drifting away from off, on a length. Perera backs away and taps it to the point region.

DRINKS BREAK. Sri Lanka have saved their best for the last. They have outplayed the Indians with the bat so far. At the same stage, India were 100/3 and Sri Lanka are 114/1. After bossing up the Powerplay, the bigger challenge for them was to deal with the in-form Indian spin attack. But they came out with flying colors against the spin trio. They have kept attacking on anything loose thrown at them and as a result, the pressure has shifted on the Indians. They are in a desperate search for wickets now as with 9 wickets in hand, this, right now, looks like an easily doable job for Sri Lanka. 89 needed off the last 10 overs. Here's Harshit Rana into the attack after the break. He replaces Kuldeep Yadav.

Oh, what happened there? Even before Varun Chakaravarthy delivered the ball, the on-field umpire signalled for a dead ball. Nissanka smoked that short ball towards long on where Axar Patel settled under it and tried to take it with a reverse cup. But the ball popped out of his palms and tipped behind the ropes. However, that won't count now as the umpire mentions that Abhishek Sharma had not gone off the field before the ball was delivered.

0.5NOT OUT! This one swings away from the leg stump line on a good length. Kusal Perera is caught in the crease as he looks to work that across to the leg side. Misses to lay his bat on the ball and the ball rolls off the front pad to the point region. A huge appeal for LBW, but not entertained by the umpire! Pitching outside leg? Oh, Suryakumar Yadav has taken a review. UltraEdge detects nothing, and the Ball Tracking shows that the ball is clearly pitching outside the leg stump line. India burn a review.
Kusal Perera walks out to bat at number 3.
0.4OUT! EDGED AND GONE! CAUGHT! Hardik Pandya provides an early breakthrough for India in the very first over! He bowls on a fuller length, keeping the line of attack just outside off, and also gets some outswing on it. Kusal Mendis is drawn on the front foot, but pokes his bat away from the body as he pushes tentatively at it. Gets a thick outside edge and the ball flies to the right of Shubman Gill at first slip. He takes a simple catch. Kusal Mendis departs for a golden duck and Sri Lanka are 7/1, needing 196 runs to win.
0.3Gently curving away from off, on a good length, staying a tad low on the bounce. Pathum Nissanka gets squared up and pushes it to the point region for a quick run.
0.2Short again, around off. Pathum Nissanka mistimes the pull shot, but clears mid on for a couple of runs as Harshit Rana mops it up from mid on.
0.1FOUR! Oh, what a cracking start! Hardik bowls short and outside off, shaping away from off. Pathum Nissanka stays in the crease and cuts it through the narrow gap between point and cover-point for a boundary. Pathum Nissanka and Sri Lanka are underway in the chase.
