Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore bought 91,172 shares in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/axisbank/AB16">Axis Bank</a> at Rs 1,166.6 per share from Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE - ODI for Rs 10.6 crore, and 3.94 lakh shares in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/aerospacedefence/bharatelectronics/BE03">Bharat Electronics</a> at Rs 403.15 per share for Rs 15.9 crore.

In <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/telecommunications-service/bhartiairtel/BA08">Bharti Airtel</a>, there was an exchange of 1.47 lakh shares amongst them at Rs 1,935.6 per share for Rs 28.47 crore, and 9.52 lakh shares in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/online-services/eternal/Z">Eternal</a> at Rs 332.25 per share for Rs 31.6 crore.

Further, Morgan Stanley acquired 1.03 lakh shares in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/constructioncontracting-real-estate/godrejproperties/GP11">Godrej Properties</a> at Rs 1,967.4 per share for Rs 20.29 crore, and 28,602 shares in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-23-wheelers/heromotocorp/HHM">Hero MotoCorp</a> at Rs 5,354.5 apiece for Rs 15.3 crore from Goldman Sachs.

They both also exchange 1.16 lakh of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/kotakmahindrabank/KMB">Kotak Mahindra Bank</a> at Rs 2,013.5 per share for Rs 23.54 crore, and 1.07 lakh shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/online-services/one97communicationspaytm/OC03">One 97 Communications</a> (Paytm) at Rs 1,141.4 per share for Rs 12.3 crore.

Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/householdpersonal-products/vipindustries/VIP">VIP Industries</a> shares plunged nearly 4 percent to Rs 409.5. Promoter group entities offloaded 6.22 percent stake in the luggage manufacturer for Rs 343.2 crore with Kiddy Plast selling 10.87 lakh shares at Rs 388 per share, and Piramal Vibhuti Investments 77.5 lakh shares at Rs 388.25 per share.

However, Multiples Private Equity Gift Fund IV, and Samvibhag Securities acquired 82.2 lakh shares (5.8 percent stake) in VIP Industries at Rs 388 per share for Rs 319.07 crore.

PL Capital in its note had said that in case the index fails to sustain in the important 54,800-55,000 support band, it can slip further to the 53,600-zone with bias weakening even more.

As the index closed significantly below the lower limit of the support level suggested by the domestic brokerage, investors should remain cautious about the likelihood of Bank Nifty index dropping further.

Gold and silver prices have been hitting fresh record highs consecutively for several sessions this month, dodging market volatility.

Jewellery stocks decline:

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/diamond-cuttingjewelleryprecious-metals/pcjeweller/PJ">PC Jeweller</a> shares dropped nearly 10 percent to trade at Rs 12.14 apiece. <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/diamondjewellery/kalyanjewellersindia/KJI01">Kalyan Jewellers</a> and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/diamondjewellery/sencogold/SG14">Senco Gold</a> shares fell over 3 percent to Rs 448 apiece. PN Gadgil Jewellers and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/miscellaneous/titancompany/TI01">Titan</a> shares meanwhile fell over 2 percent each.

Gold futures at record high

Earlier this week, Gold futures on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) with October expiry hit a fresh <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/commodities/gold-silver-hit-fresh-record-highs-on-mcx-what-s-driving-the-rally-13565908.html">lifetime high</a> of Rs 1,14,179 per 10 grams. Contracts with December expiry meanwhile hit a lifetime high of Rs 1,14,198 per 10 grams. Domestic gold prices also jumped.

The prices have now consolidated slightly, but still remain high.

Silver accompanying gold:

Along with gold, silver futures also hit fresh lifetime highs. <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/markets/hindustan-zinc-shares-jump-3-as-silver-hits-fresh-record-highs-13578685.html">Silver</a> futures with December expiry hit a fresh lifetime high of Rs 1,38,184 per kg earlier this week. The future contracts with March expiry hit an all time high of Rs 1,39,626 per kg today.

Analysts note that customers may pause their jewellery purchases when the precious metals are at such high levels.

Demand for ornaments is likely to fall 27 percent from a year ago in terms of volume during the three-week buying period, Bloomberg quoted Surendra Mehta, national secretary at the India Bullion and Jewellers Association, as saying.

Consumers, especially in big cities, are postponing spending due to high costs, he added.

"The rally is supported by the Fed’s dovish rate-cut outlook and expectations of further easing into late 2025, keeping liquidity strong in bullions. Global uncertainties and declining dollar dependence continue to fuel buying interest in Gold and Silver," said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

Jewellery stocks decline:

PC Jeweller shares dropped nearly 10 percent to trade at Rs 12.14 apiece. Kalyan Jewellers and Senco Gold shares fell over 3 percent to Rs 448 apiece. PN Gadgil Jewellers and Titan shares meanwhile fell over 2 percent each.

Gold futures at record high

Tata Motors shares rose over 2 percent on Friday, snapping a two-day losing streak, after Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said it had restored part of its digital systems that were disrupted by a cyber attack.

The UK-based luxury carmaker said on Thursday that some of its systems were back online as part of a phased recovery process, reported Reuters.

"As part of the controlled, phased restart of our operations, today we have informed colleagues, suppliers and retail partners that sections of our digital estate are now up and running," a JLR spokesperson said. "The foundational work of our recovery programme is firmly underway," the spokesperson added.

During FY25, JLR accounted for 72 percent of Tata Motors' total automotive revenue, higher than its contribution in FY24, led by strong performance in the North American market. Employee costs at JLR rose 15.6 per cent to Rs 36,887 crore (£3,417 million) in FY25 due to an increase in headcount and annual pay revisions.
