Singapore-headquartered investment management firm Amansa Holdings has acquired nearly 1 percent equity stake in advanced intermediates and specialty chemicals maker Aether Industries, while Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund bought 0.6 percent shares in auto ancillary and defence company Bharat Forge via open market transactions on September 29.

Amansa Holdings bought 12.8 lakh shares (equivalent to 0.96 percent stake) in Aether Industries at Rs 735 per share for Rs 94.27 crore, however, Goldman Sachs FDS Goldman Sachs India EQ Portfolio sold 11.51 lakh shares (0.86 percent stake) at Rs 735.01 apiece, amounting to Rs 84.6 crore.

Meanwhile, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund bought 31.02 lakh shares of Bharat Forge at Rs 1,217.32 per share for Rs 377.7 crore, however, sold 7.37 lakh shares in DCX Systems at Rs 242.62 apiece for Rs 17.88 crore.

Wockhardt had acquired French firm Negma to strengthen manufacturing capacity in Europe for formulations and APIs, aside of manufacturing and injectable facility in North Wales, UK. The drug maker has presence in USA, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Mexico, Russia and many other countries, with research facilities in India and UK, and a manufacturing facility in Ireland. Wockhardt has a significant present in Europe and India with nearly 78 percent of its global revenue coming from international businesses.

Exemptions for US Trade Partners?

While announcing the pharma tariffs, Trump did not specify if the levies would apply over and above the existing tariffs as defined with trade agreements with EU and Japan, and the UK. On September 26, Bloomberg News quoted a US government official who said duties on pharma imports from EU will not exceed 15 percent, as is the tariff framework of the deal. Drug imports from Japan too will be levied the rate defined by the trade pact, said the official.

EU Commission's deputy spokesperson Olof Gill had on Friday cited the trade agreement as an 'insurance' against Trump's fresh and higher tariffs on pharma imports into US. “This clear all-inclusive 15% tariff ceiling for EU exports represents an insurance policy that no higher tariffs will emerge for European economic operators. The EU is the only trade partner to achieve this outcome with the US,” Olof Gill had said.

No Impact of Trump Tariffs on Zaynich

Wockhardt has said that Zaynich, the company’s investigational drug which has cured complex case of meningitis
under compassionate use, has achieved over 97 percent efficacy in clinic study for serious infections, and is being manufactured in Europe. Given the drug falls under the ambit of tariffs applicable under local trade agreement, Wockhardt has said that the Trump tariffs on pharmaceuticals 'will not have significant impact' on the molecule.

"Our new molecules, like Zaynich, which we would be going to rest as our first drug, the product is entirely manufactured in Europe, and therefore it will not be covered by Indian tariffs, and it would be covered by the European tariffs," Chairman Hablil Khorakiwala said during an interaction with CNBC-TV18 on the day Trump's pharma tariffs were announced.

"There are approaches available whereby one can reduce the impact of tariffs significantly." Khorakiwala also said that the application for a USFDA filing by the company for Zaynich is expected this week. "...generally the FDA takes about 9 to 12 months for approval. So, we expect by <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/stocks/wockhardt-looking-at-fy27-us-launch-for-miracle-antibiotic-zaynich-eyes-global-market-worth-over-7-billion-13100482.html">middle of next year to be launching in the US</a> and subsequently, in H2 of next year to file in various in Europe and emerging markets," Murtuza Khorakiwla, MD of Wockhardt had said during the June quarter earnings call.

Shares of consumer staples giant Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) tumbled in trade on Monday, September 29, after posting a weaker-than-expected business update for the September quarter, with the Goods and Services tax (GST) rationalisation impacting the sales for the period.

The firm noted that with the revised GST rates, approximately 40 percent of its portfolio including toilet soap, toothpaste, shampoo, hair oil, and others now benefit from a reduced GST rate of five percent, down from the previous GST rates of 12 percent or 18 percent.

"HUL remains committed to supporting the Government’s efforts by ensuring that the GST benefits are being passed on to consumers through competitive pricing and enhanced value across a wide range of products from 22nd September onwards. These reforms are expected to increase disposable income and drive long-term demand across key categories," added the FMCG giant.

The GST move has resulted in postponement of ordering in anticipation of receiving new stocks with updated prices and lower orders across the overall portfolio as consumers delayed their pantry buying.

As existing inventory with old prices in the trade channel (at distributor and retailer level) had to be cleared there has been a transitory impact in the quarter for HUL, with the effect likely to continue in October as well.

"This has led to a short-term impact on sales for the company in September. Given our existing pipeline inventory in the channels, we expect this impact to continue into October as well," added HUL.

Therefore, the Lifebuoy-maker added that for the quarter, the consolidated business growth is likely to be near flat to low-single digits. "This is a one-off, transitory impact, and we anticipate recovery starting November as prices stabilise, underpinned by rising disposable incomes and our ongoing portfolio transformation actions," the firm added.

The facility is expected to generate over 500 jobs in the region in the first phase and further contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth and India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Last months, company's subsidiary, Next Generation Manufacturers, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for setting up a Rs 1,000 crore greenfield consumer electronics facility at Kamargaon in Ahilyanagar.

In the last 3-month, the company share price declined 31 percent.

In the previous trading session, the share closed at Rs 514.50, down Rs 25.25, or 4.68 percent.

The share touched a 52-week high of Rs 1,054.95 and a 52-week low of Rs 471.15 on 06 January, 2025 and 14 August, 2025, respectively.

Currently, the stock is trading 50.53 percent below its 52-week high and 10.77 percent above its 52-week low.

The market capitalisation of the company stands at Rs 14,825.91 crore.

PG Electroplast shares gain 1.5% on acquiring 50-acre land in Andhra Pradesh

PG Electroplast (PGEL) shares price gained 1.5 percent in the opening trade on September 29 after its subsidiary PG Technoplast acquired a 50-acre land parcel in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

At 09:20am, PG Electroplast was quoting at Rs 521.90, up Rs 7.40, or 1.44 percent, on the BSE.

PGEL plans to invest around Rs 1,000 crore in developing state-of-the-art integrated manufacturing campus over the next 5 years.
