The Gurugram Lok Sabha seat is witnessing a triangular contest featuring Rao Inderjit Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Raj Babbar from Congress, and singer and rapper Rahul Yadav, popularly known as Fazilpuria, fielded by the Jannayak Janta Party.

Rao Inderjit Singh has won the Gurugram Lok Sabha seat twice for the BJP, while Babbar is a three-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh. This election marks the debut for Fazilpuria, adding an interesting dynamic to the race.

In Haryana, the Congress has a seat-sharing arrangement with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), under which Congress is contesting nine out of the ten Lok Sabha seats in the state, while AAP is contesting the remaining seat.

Sitting Member of Parliament Rao Inderjit Singh switched from the Congress to the BJP in 2014 and won the 2019 election by a margin of over 300,000 votes against his nearest rival.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP swept all 10 seats in Haryana. In the 2014 elections, the BJP won seven seats, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats, and the Congress secured one seat.

Spanning over 9 assembly segments, Gurugram's Lok Sabha constituency encapsulates a diverse landscape of urban, rural, and urbanised village settings. Persistent waterlogging, substandard drainage systems and crippling traffic congestion remain pressing concerns for residents.

The Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency includes the assembly constituencies of Gurgaon, Badshapur, Sohna, Pataudi, Bawal, Rewari, Nuh, Ferozepur Jhirka and Punhana. The total number of eligible voters this year are 24.9 lakh, with 3.5 lakh new voters.

The Lok Sabha elections for Haryana’s 10 parliamentary constituencies will be held in a single phase on May 25.
